Medolla - MO - 41036
BECAUSE OF THE 2012 EARTHQUAKE, MEDOLLA WAS STRONGLY DAMAGED. ALL THE CHURCHES ARE TEMPORARILY CLOSED
The area around Medolla is particularly interesting for visitors. Of these, special mention must be made of Villa Franca, and the hamlets of Montalbano and Malcantone - where one of the best-preserved examples of fortress-towers in the province can be still be seen today.
The Church of Camurana is also worth a brief visit. Constructed before the 15th century, it contains a splendid organ built by Domenico Traeri in 1723.
Another attraction found in the area are its seventeen ancient country villas, most of which date back to 550/600.
The Capelletta del Duca on the SS 12 also draws some curiosity amongst visitors.
This circular Oratory was built by Francesco V d'Este as thanksgiving for having escaped an attempt on his life on that spot.
