Is this real? L'arte nell'epoca della Game Engine Culture

On 23 March 2023 FMAV Fondazione Modena Arti Visive is opening three important exhibitions hosted in the FMAV venues of Palazzo Santa Margherita and Palazzina dei Giardini, in a meeting of emerging talents, experimentation and playfulness.

The last appointment at the Palazzina dei Giardini is the Is this real? L'arte nell'epoca della Game Engine Culture group exhibition curated by Valentino Catricalà. We increasingly access information by way of game engine processes. No longer simply digital means, game engines have become actual cultural processes. Not just related to games or video games, they provide a cultural outlook that opens up important social and philosophical issues.

The exhibition sets out to investigate these themes through the artists’ work. Ahead of the game, these artists have been investigating and reprocessing this new cultural outlook for years. The concept, coming from the School of Digital Arts (SODA) Modal Gallery in Manchester, is re-elaborated here and expanded through new lines of reflection. Alongside images, there will be works of sound art, robotics and machine learning by the artists AUDINT, Federica Di Pietrantonio, DIS, Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg, Auriea Harvey, Mishka Henner, Oliver Laric, Donato Piccolo, Quayola and Jakob Steensen.
