Palazzo Santa Margherita, Corso Canalgrande
It's opening in Palazzo Santa Margherita, in the Museo della Figurina, is Minecraft Museum Adventure. Viaggio nel mondo della figurina, curated by Francesca Fontana and Lorenzo Respi. Created in 2009 by Swedish developer Markus Persson, aka “Notch”, Minecraft is the biggest-selling video game in the world. Thanks to its game mechanics, Minecraft is considered a useful learning tool for developing creativity, logic, computational thinking and problem-solving skills. Through the collections and materials housed in the Museo della Figurina – connected to the concept of edutainment, since the aim of picture cards was to teach something in a fun way – a project has been developed with Future Education Modena to build a Minecraft (Java Edition) version of the museum. The aim is to use the video game to expand the museum experience, involve children and young people in visiting the museum, and combine an analogical and digital experience. Hence, the museum can also be visited virtually, and users can interact with its collections in a series of games, ranging from parkour to logic, which gradually get more difficult. It is an escape room containing challenges, puzzles and tests on the exhibition topics which will be updated for each new exhibition.
