YUVAL AVITAL, MÉCANIQUES DISCURSIVES, IS THIS REAL?
On 23 March FMAV Fondazione Modena Arti Visive is opening three exhibitions featuring contemporary art, experimentation, mixed genres and a reflection on the most pressing themes of the present day. Between painting, photography, new technologies, robotics and theatre.
We start with the About Birds project by Yuval Avital, curated by Elisa Camesasca, in the upper rooms of Palazzo Santa Margherita. The exhibition comes about in close correlation with the very first performance of the work of visual and sound art of the same name devised by Avital during the first lockdown which will take place in the Pavarotti-Freni municipal theatre on 24 March. In order to analyse and connect back to the experience that we all lived in 2020 in June 2022 Avital entered a voluntary five-day lockdown with three musicians from the Meitar Ensemble in an old villa in the Modenese hills. Here he created a performance that we can follow in the exhibition of photographs, images and video projections taken from a generative application programmed especially by the artist for the project, leading the public along an unusual, immersive path in a deep, dreamlike journey into the artist’s universe.
