1 hour

Guided tour of the Ducal Palace of Sassuolo, one of the most important Baroque residences in northern Italy and a symbol of Este magnificence.

Its present appearance took shape at the behest of Duke Francesco I d’Este, who in 1634 commissioned the architect Bartolomeo Avanzini to transform the ancient family castle into a modern suburban residence for the court.

Conceived as a “palace of delights”, the building still astonishes today with the richness of its interiors and the extraordinary quality of its decoration: wall paintings, stucco ornamentation, sculptures, fountains, frescoed halls, and illusionistic perspectives create a carefully designed itinerary intended to amaze visitors and celebrate the power and splendor of the court.
