Guided visit to Villa Tusini, one of the most significant examples of a “closed court” farmhouse complex in the Modena plain—a true “village within a village,” where the manor house and rural buildings are arranged around a large internal courtyard. Built in 1822 by the Tusini brothers, the villa is enclosed by a square wall measuring approximately 60 meters on each side and includes various spaces—caretaker’s quarters, cellar, granary, woodshed, laundry room, warehouse, two ovens, and a greenhouse—all of which are still clearly identifiable.

Today, Villa Tusini hosts spaces and exhibitions of notable cultural value, including a faithful reconstruction of Gregorio Sciltian’s studio, featuring original objects and sketches, as well as a permanent exhibition of 20th-century Italian painting (with works by, among others, Guido Borgianni and Alberto Bragaglia). The villa also houses an installation by Ilario Tamassia, composed of works reassembled after the 2012 earthquake, and a historical photographic exhibition dedicated to the Tusini family.

Villa Tusini is also home to the Municipal Acetaia of San Prospero, with traditional barrels, period tools, and production spaces, as well as a collection of thousands of vinyl records and CDs, along with equipment and volumes dedicated to music.
