Villa Messori, also known as the “Villa of the Hungarians,” is a historic residence located in the heart of the old village of Castelvetro di Modena, at Via Torquato Tasso 13, just a few steps from Piazza Roma.

The name derives from the Hungarian Baron Giovanni de’ Pisztory, who purchased and lived in the villa in the second half of the 19th century, giving it an aristocratic and international character that is still evident today.

The property later passed to the Messori family, its current custodians, who carried out an important restoration, enhancing the historical identity of the residence. Unlike traditional country villas, the building is set within the urban fabric of the village and reflects its strategic importance over time.

The villa stands out for the elegance of its spaces, its charming inner garden that offers an oasis of tranquility, and the presence of a historic vinegar loft (acetaia). The visit is further enriched by underground passages, which bear witness to different historical periods and to the building’s significance within the village.
