Founded in 1995, the Centre has a Museum Section and a Library Section.

MUSEUM SECTION: a collection of over 1000 ceramic tiles tracing the evolution of Italian production after World War Two to date from a creative, artistic, technological and commercial point of view.
Types of tiles on show: terracotta, earthenware, white and red single-fired, red and white porcelain and kervit.
Decorative techniques: stencil, decals, screen-printing, hand-decorations, relief work, third firing.
Documents: brochures, CD-ROMs, photos, videocassettes about the sector

LIBRARY SECTION: the library is part of the online inter-municipal library system in the province of Modena.
It has four sections:
- “Monographs”: Studies published or promoted by the Italian tile producers association Assopiastrelle on the ceramics sector, in historical series; research into the main ceramic tile markets; scientific and technical research into production, decoration and installation of ceramic tiles; historic-artistic publications; research into the environment/ceramics industry relationship and into energy sources; studies into logistics for raw materials and the finished product; texts and research into the history of the Sassuolo ceramics district
- "Periodicals": Italian and foreign specialist magazines for the ceramics sector, relative to building, scientific research into ceramic materials, architecture and design and the history of ceramics
- "Videocassettes": Audio-visual materials on the Italian ceramic tile industry
- "Company catalogues"

Opening hours

The museum and library sections open on request from Monday to Friday: 8.30 am - 12.30pm, 2.30 pm - 6.30 pm; closed in August.
